USConcert performs Tchaikovsky 6 and Nielsen 5

The USConcert ushers in the summer with a surprising programme of two symphonies. On the programme is Nielsen's Fifth Symphony, a piece that breaks with the traditional symphonic structure by consisting of only two movements. These movements, in turn, are divided into sections, each representing its own character. Thus, contrasts are explored: between active and passive forces, light and darkness, and good and evil. After the intermission, the USConcert plays Tchaikovsky's famous Sixth Symphony, a masterpiece bursting with emotions and desires. You will also hear Tchaikovsky's struggle with fate, the destiny that every human being must face: the symphony ends with an eerie silence.
