Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest interdisciplinary student association in Europe. It was born on the 16th of October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange. ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing the student exchange from different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad.
We have more than 500 sections in 40 countries and we are constantly developing and expanding. This happens on a local, national and international level. On these three levels we have around 14.500 active members. On a local level these members are supported by local volunteers in the roles of buddies, guides, committee-members and so on. Thus, ESN involves around 34.000 young people offering its services to around 190.000 international students every year.
ELSA, The European Law Students’ Association, is an international, independent, non-political organization for young lawyers. ELSA Maastricht is a study association for all law students in Maastricht, from Maastricht University. ELSA’s vision: “A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity.” ELSA offers opportunities for international exchange, deepening and broadening of legal knowledge and personal and professional guidance for law students.
Kaleido is an inclusive student community gradually taking shape. In its final form, Kaleido will be the location for internationally-minded people to meet. A space where everyone feels welcome and is free to express themselves creatively. In the meantime, we focus on creating one-of-a-kind connections. We invite all students to get involved and shape Kaleido together.
We are a student boardsports association. We are passionate about skiing, surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, skating, and so on! Every year we organize ski trips and surfing trips. Next to the boardsports activities, we have some weekly activities such as yoga classes (to increase muscle flexibility, relax, etc.), workouts, and Stoked nights.
Eloquentia Maastricht is a two year old student-founded and run debate and eloquence association of Maastricht University concerned with developing students' articulation, critical thinking and argumentation. Open to students of all faculties and backgrounds, we host weekly events alternating between debates which adhere to the British Parliamentary System (BPS) format and our very own Eloquence Sessions, including sales pitches, creative dialogues and short speech competitions. Every session is evaluated by a panel of judges, thus granting participants the opportunity to receive constructive feedback along with suggestions for improvement in the areas of wording, body language and tonality. All our events aim to strengthen participants’ confidence, public-speaking abilities, English proficiency, body language, tonality and argumentation. Skills developed at Eloquentia are vital when writing papers, presenting, engaging in inter-personal communication and everyday life.
