The Hazardous Waste Business Line is a top priority of the Veolia Impact 2023 Growth Plan, with a significant part of the investment plan for the group. An exciting opportunity is available in our Technical & Performance Team in Veolia North America (VNA). Our group is dedicated to supporting VNA business lines and more specifically our ESS activity and Industrial Water activity. The T&P Team supports growth initiatives by aiding specific organic growth projects (operating, revamping, developing new treatment capacities) and by supporting mergers and acquisitions projects. Description du poste As a member of the team, the Engineering VIE will work on a wide range of operational and technical issues related to hazardous waste management and industrial water utility operations linked to the incineration facility in Port Arthur, TX. The Engineering Intern will report to the Process Engineer at the Port Arthur facility. Interns are assigned to more than one project at any given time and also work in close collaboration with our corporate functions as well as the operations team on site. Primary Duties / Responsibilities: • Assist in daily operational troubleshooting and contribute ideas to implement for increased throughput and reliability • Incineration feedstock management optimization by: - Conducting interviews (operators + Port Arthur team) to understand current practices, how operators manage waste, and how waste mix preparations are developed. - Analytical data review of the process and developing correlations in cooperation with data scientists to develop algorithms for specific topics. (Ex. Natural gas consumption, Filter Cake composition based on what is processed, etc.) These mini sub projects will be developed with the operations team. - Assisting with gathering and sharing best practices and lessons learned across Veolia's hazardous waste incineration community. • Disposal method optimization of liquid industrial waste streams from literature reviews based on the waste code to confirmation of the treatment train at lab scale: - Get familiar with different disposal options (deepwell, incineration, evaporation, etc.) and US waste codes - Review and suggest improvements of existing lab protocols - Produce basic business plan to confirm feasibility of selected disposal route. • Participate in Incident Investigations and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) teams • Support small scale capital projects by participating in equipment sizing and calculating design specifications to optimize reliability and cost Length : 18 months Qualifications • Must have a master degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical preferred) • Must have completed Process Analysis or equivalent • Must have strong chemistry background (Organic Chemistry preferred) Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
