For our Nootdorp office we are looking for a Survey specialist. You will join the Software Specialist team, a professional and highly motivated team providing support for in-house developed software products used on Fugro projects. The Software Specialist team is part of the Innovation Technology Commissioning and Implementation group and responsible for testing, releasing, and supporting software products and digital workflows. The team also provides expertise on survey methods and advises on software improvements.
At Fugro Innovation and Technology, we develop modern equipment and software, based on the needs of colleagues working in Marine Site Characterization and Marine Asset Integrity service lines. The in-house developed Starfix Suite software is used for Data acquisition, Positioning, Navigation and QC (Quality Control) purposes on near-shore and offshore projects.
This is an excellent opportunity if you want to switch from an offshore position to an office-based position and share your experience and knowledge from there.
You provide support to offshore projects by troubleshooting reported issues, provide advice on the use of our products and recommend the best industry/Fugro practices. You are responsible for running our service desk where users report their issues and contribute to the knowledge base by writing documentation. You participate in testing and releasing the Starfix Suite software and ensuring a high-quality level. You develop test cases and test scenarios that reflect the use of the software and related products in the field to ensure robust and reliable products are released. You work closely with software and firmware developers and act as an interface to the user. You identify and propose improvements to our products to increase their stability, efficiency and useability based on your communication with users in the field. You are open to travelling to other project locations, if necessary.
Your track record
You have a BSc. or a higher-level degree in surveying or a related subject, e.g., Hydrography, Geomatics or Geodesy. Or you reached that level by extended practical field experience You have relevant Marine offshore experience preferably on several types of survey projects such as geophysical, construction support, positioning and IRM surveys You have a thorough understanding of measurement principles and calibration procedures You have an affinity with IT, data acquisition and testing of software. You can analyze software related problems down to the root, also on database or IT infrastructure level You have excellent communication skills, you are service minded, have a structured work approach, and you can convert questions and ideas into concrete tasks
