Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. R&D aims to strengthen the Toyota image in Europe. Material and Research Organic department is responsible for the development and evaluation of plastic & parts and materials used in the car. Your project: In order to reduce waste from end-of-life vehicles, reuse and recycling technology is important which TME is continuously expanding. In order to do this, (new) technologies need to be developed that allow usage of recycled material to meet the strict automotive standards for demanding part applications. Your challenge is to find and validate new recycling technology for Organic materials. Your main responsibilities: Market research for available technologies (patent, documentation, industry..) Defining potential of technology, considering (LCA - Life Cycle Assessment) impact, technical difficulty and cost Validation of potential technologies to TME standards Validation plan set-up for candidate materials, including prototype part preparation Validation of material and part performances (physical properties, emissions, environmental ageing etc.) Your profile: Master Student in Chemical engineering (Polymer Engineering) or Mechanical engineering. General knowledge on polymer engineering and polymer processing techniques Knowledge on plastic recycling & other sustainable technologies and basic understanding of LCA methodology is a plus. Open, flexible personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality Analytical mind Fluent in English We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
