The Job

Internship: Definition of the energy standard usage by process type Profile • Become familiar with the process flow (reactors, tank farm, distillation, spray tower) and the influencing factors that determine energy consumption • Analysis of the data made available in terms of energy measurements and production volumes • Data analysis on these available data: regression analysis, investigation of anomalies • Identify additional potential influencing factors for energy consumption in collaboration with the local team. The measurements, set points, recipes, planning,... available in the existing automation. Create a guideline for available information • Support in setting up new loggers for chosen additional influence factors • Regression analysis on the newly created logging • Interpretation and decision making of the regression analysis to arrive at a benchmark proposal = expected energy consumption per unit where the unit can be batch, kg production, time • Evaluate the correctness of the proposed benchmark by: o Validation on historical data o Draw up energy balance and compare with actual consumption o For heating and cooling: compare with theoretically calculated consumption Required competences: • Smooth communication in Dutch or French and English • Basic knowledge of statistics, at least familiar with linear regression analysis via excel or the like. Surplus if knowledge of non-linear tools • Knowledge of mass balances, energy balances, thermodynamics • Affinity for data analysis Practical info’s Period of the internship : ideally first part of 2023 (minimum) Duration of the internship : 3 months Location of the internship: HQ site Groot-Bijgaarden; Belgium
