The Job
Company description: Our brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad have made us one of the world's leading premium manufacturer of cars and motorcycles as well as provider of premium financial and mobility services. Job description: THE FUTURE WILL NEVER SIMPLY WORK IN THEORY. SHARE YOUR PASSION. World-leading technologies don’t make it into a BMW until they’ve undergone one of the most challenging journeys imaginable. It takes dynamic teams with outstanding technical skills to take them from the drawing board to the road. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do. We, the BMW Group, off you an interesting and varied internship in the area of Development Next Generation Power Electronics. PLECS is a simulation framework, which is used to model most of the main power electronics components in our team. It is used for system-level and semi-component-level simulations. The advantages of PLECS are numerous. To increase the simulation efficiency a combination of PLECS and LTspice is of great benefit. One goal of your internship is to develop an automatic translator that reads a SPICE netlist and translates it to PLECS source code, which is written in Octave. You will work on potential automations within the development process and will contribute to the development of the latest BMW electric driving modular architecture. What awaits you? You are responsible for developing a software tool in Python for interpreting the circuit diagram out of a SPICE netlist. The interpreted circuit must be then coded in Octave to be represented in PLECS. You are responsible for developing the translator using a template engine for automatic code generation. The performance of the translated circuit in PLECS must be checked against the original circuit in LTspice by performing a quick default simulation. Mold your abilities into further improvements of not only the development process but also High Voltage power electronics. Working with architecture-wide simulation teams. Opportunity to improve current models and to contribute to upcoming development of latest electrical driving modular kit . Get involved in the overall development of the latest electrical driving modular kit not only with respect to simulation, but also development in hardware and software aspects. Profile description: What should you bring along? A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering or higher. Experienced in power electronics and power conversion topologies or electrical circuits. Extensive experience in Python and Octave/MATLAB programming is a must. Knowledge in SPICE simulation environments and version control frameworks is a bonus Experience in template engines and/or markup language generation is a bonus. Interested in model-based design, such as modelling power conversion topologies. Good command of English and German. What do we offer? Comprehensive mentoring & onboarding. Personal & professional development. Work-Life-Balance & flexible working hours. Digital offers & mobile working. Attractive remuneration. Employee discounts & price deductions. Apartment offers for employees (only Munich). And many other benefits - see bmw.jobs/waswirbieten. Are you enthused by new technologies and an innovative environment? Apply now!
