The Job
At Samotics, we develop AI-based predictive analytics for industrial machinery. The Sales Operations team is looking for an analytical and communicative Commercial Trainee to support our next wave of growth. You will quickly learn the ins and outs of our proposition; perform meaningful analyses to better understand the market and our clients; and lay the groundwork for building relations with prospective clients and deepening relations with current clients. About Samotics Passionate about solving the problem of unplanned downtime and industrial energy waste, Samotics uses AI-driven electrical signature analysis to create smart solutions that increase asset productivity and reduce energy waste while saving customers’ time and money. We serve customers such as TotalEnergies, Schiphol, Nouryon and ArcelorMittal. Our product, SAM4, leverages machine learning algorithms and IoT sensors to detect upcoming failures in critical industrial assets up to months in advance. But SAM4 does more than just prevent unplanned downtime. It also enables the world's largest and most successful industrial companies to significantly reduce energy waste. We are a growing, energetic company where professionalism, a great atmosphere, and cutting-edge technology go hand in hand. Our team in Leiden, the Netherlands currently has 70 people and continues to grow. About the Sales Operations team To help accelerate our growth, we are looking for a commercial trainee to work at the heart of our commercial team. You will be a part of Sales Operations, but work very closely with our business development managers and with our customer success team. All these teams are led by former strategy consultants with a keen eye for structured problem solving, project management and business analytics - allowing you to quickly develop your skills in that area. This position is a great landing spot for a starting professional looking to grow further within our company. Everything is possible! Kick-start your career here and choose the path that suits you best. As a commercial trainee you will quickly gain a strong understanding of our product and organization. As Samotics expands, your position will involve a lot of responsibility and offer plenty of room for professional growth. The commercial trainee In the role of commercial trainee you divide your time between various tasks: (1) Generate high-quality leads and develop them to the next stage through consultative selling; (2) Support business development in your dedicated focus areas; (3) automate and improve our sales processes, systems and tools. In all of the above we leverage smart tools and next-gen technology to automate as much as possible. Your ideas are welcome! You will play a key role in our growth: it is your responsibility to qualify potential customers by reaching out to them. If they receive your stamp of approval, you present them to the relevant business development manager. In addition, you will also be actively hunting for other entry points for targets you believe could be interested in our solution. Importantly, your excellent analytical skills will be put to use on a regular basis to continuously improve our analytics and tooling, generate insight into our sales data, propose changes based on your observations and do market assessments in support of the business development managers. This is not a run-of-the-mill sales role. Our product and the type of customer relationships we aim for require consultative selling. You will be intensively coached on this skill, and you will learn how to have meaningful interactions with clients where careful listening and clearly explaining our highly technical product are a core driver of success. Mastering this early in your career will allow you to grow quickly as a well-rounded and high-quality professional. As part of the traineeship, you are dedicated to one of our focus sectors (for example water industry, or chemical industry) and work closely with the associated business development manager. As you grow to be the market expert, you may switch to another focus industry (and other business development manager) over time. This allows for great learning and for experiencing the best that Samotics has to offer.
